"Will you please put your phone down during dinner?!"

Yes, we are in an era where students use their phones constantly--texting, tweeting, posting, pinning, and so much more! It can be extremely frustrating for a parent to communicate with a child who won't put down their phone!

However, as a teacher, I embrace the changes of technology!  As your child heads off to college and their impending career of choice...technology, and their ability to maximize it, will become their close friend (or BFF, as they say these days!).  I am able to use these up and coming technologies in my classroom as a learning tool for your child NOW, and  am here to show you how you can aid GVHS in this mission for years to come!

In a school that has few SMART boards, I would truly love to be able to educate my students with this tool.  In addition, personal Nook Simple Touch would be a fantastic aid to the seniors in my classroom.  Check out these links:  SMART Board for English Arts and Barnes and Noble Nook to see what I can bring to your child's classroom.

  • With the SMART Board, we could disect Heart of Darkness (and others, of course!) in a more interactive and productive way than you remember--yes, it was the most miserable book you read in high school!  I will be able to take away much of the "lost" feeling many students experience when breaking down difficult material.
  • The Nook could provide us with notetaking, vocabulary highlighting, and text memorization tools.
I am so excited for these two technology tools to be added to my English 4AP classroom!  And...the AP Test passage rate will most definitely improve with these tools.

So, how do we bring this all together for your student??  Join up with the GVHS PTA to ensure we have the most up-to-date technology!  Send me a message to see how you can be a part of this movement and fundraising opportunities!  Who knows...your grandchildren could be the benefactors!  Please feel free to post and comment for further info or collaboration with other parents.

I read comments on this blog daily, and will be your aid in the process of getting involved in GVHS' technological and fundraising future.

Thank you to all the parents,

Mrs. Covert
